Travelling with Cloth Diapers

We are taking a trip up to Sacramento in early June. The hubs has a 5 day business trip and the baby and I are tagging along. This will followed by a 10 day or so road trip to Colorado later in June/early July. While the trips should be awesome and tons of fun, I am a little worried about the diaper situation.

I have enough diapers for 3 to 4 days and 5 nights. The Sacramento trip should be easy enough because I can just hit a laundromat on afternoon while hubs is at work. And that will serve as a trial run for how we do with cloth diapers on the road. We’ve done one other trip since we started cloth diapering, but it was a weekend trip and I didn’t have to worry about washing until I got home.

But at the same time, I am a little concerned about laundromat washing in a strange city and am kind of hoping that the Sacramento hotel has a washer.  This is because when I had to use pay laundry in college, stuff always got stolen. But, that was with shared apartment laundry, not a mat. I can just hang out there or go for a walk pretty close by. I hope. The Colorado trip is trickier; we will stay with a family member after the two day drive, so we can wash there, but I’m not sure what the plan is after that. Maybe I’ll just pick one a hotel for one of the nights that has a washer, that seems like the easiest thing to do. There is also the option of trying a hybrid system like Flip, but I am not sure if it would be worth the extra expense.

Aside from the diaper issues, I am SO excited about the Colorado trip. I have been trying to get there for years, but something always comes up and the trip doesn’t happen, And it will be over my birthday, so, for once, my birthday can be all about what I want to do, not pleasing family members and various obligations. Woo!

Have suggestions about traveling with cloth diapers or fun things to do with an almost 1 year old in Colorado? Le me know in the comments.

I have gro baby and Flips, so we have some inserts that are disposable just in case for those if we travel a long long while…all of our other travels I have brought my WHOLE stash and 2 huge wetbags and hit a laundry place every 3-5 days (which is totally pushing it for washing for me, but I did what I had to… Otherwise, if you can not find any other solution buy a more eco friendly diaper, like 7th generation or something…better than nothing!
