Poking Around

I was going to use this as a Wordless Wednesday post until I realized that it needed to be quite wordy. Spencer is getting in to everything and it is driving me insane. Pictured above is the drawer full of safe plastic stuff that I foolishly thought I could restrict him to playing in. It lasted for about a week. The he figured out how to open cupboard doors, that we foolishly haven’t childproofed yet. Well, under the sink is childprooofed, but not the door that hides the trash can. That he is obsessed with:

And the other current obsession is the oven, which luckily has a stay cool door so I don’t have to worry too much, except for one thing.

He can reach the knobs. The horror!

Luckily, we have the push and turn type knobs and he hasn’t figured out how to turn them on. Yet. He did manage to turn one of the knobs from medium to high when my back was turned getting something off the counter. So, yeah. No more lax supervision when baby is in the kitchen.

Ugh, I am SO GLAD we don’t have the kind of stove with the knobs on the front like that. They make covers for the knobs so the baby can’t mess with them if you’re worried.

We had originally only baby-proofed a couple of important cabinets and I was going to “let” him play in the others…until he got tall enough to open ALL the drawers and started pulling out every bag of chips and loaf of bread. Now we have 1 unlocked drawer for the baby and the rest childproofed. Babies + kitchens = SUCKS.
