Sleeping Day 4

Another late wake up in the recliner where I have no recollection of getting to the chair. Spencer was a little fussbucket Sunday morning and I think we might have a tooth brewing. He had a bit of diaper rash and is drooling again.  Breakfast, diaper laundry, some play time and a quick trip to the grocery store and it was time for lunch and nap. Spencer nursed to sleep about noon and I put him in the pack-n-play since that worked so well on Saturday. Suprisingly, there is no sarcasm in that last sentence. Spencer stirred when I put him down, but I put my hands on his back and belly, kept him from rolling over and he went back to sleep (!!!). He slept in the pack-n-play for about 45 minutes. I got him out pretty quickly after he woke up and nursed him back to sleep. Here is where I failed a bit – he was so warm and full of cuddles that I let him sleep on my lap for another hour and a half. I missed it! And he got about a 2.5 hour nap, which is getting close to our goal nap.

Bedtime did not go as smoothly. It started with a struggle to even get his night diaper and jammies on, but we got it done and he was having his bottle by 8:30. But things just went downhill from there. We had bottle throwing, crying, biting, and a healthy dose of squirming. I didn’t have high hopes for nursing him to sleep, but tried it anyway. Spencer responded to my efforts by gnawing on my boobs. Awesome. I gave up and let him play, attempted to nurse him down every 20 minutes or so and he finally went down at 10.  If only he slept. He stayed asleep until about 11:30, but it was up and down for most of the night, including a diaper and pajama change at 3 am. Not our best night.
