Trip, Stumble & Fall

Spencer took a tumble. His first I had a slight panic attack spill. I saw it happening, too. I just couldn’t get there to stop it. He’s fine now, but I was quite freaked out at the time. We have a little barrier made to keep Spencer from being able to get to the laptop cords. It is formed by a small trunk wedged between the couch and a side chair. Classy, I know. But it was working. It also became Spencer’s favorite place to drop stuff and then he would lean and lean, but not quite be able to reach. And then he started putting one leg up on the chair, but didn’t really have the leverage to climb and the chair is leather and quite slippery. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him wedging himself in there and his leg go up. Well, he figured out the leverage thing. Leveraged himself right over the chair and on to his head. His first, of what I am sure will be many, head lump. He seemed ok, just cried when ever I set him down, which made cooking diner a little difficult. The swelling went down by bedtime and was completely gone this morning. I have an active little boy who is walking, soon to be running. I better get used to this.

Today at the play area at the mall, Baby Evan was trying to climb up the (three tiny foam) stairs to the slide but got distracted, turned around and fell face first into the floor. Six moms jumped up and gasped and looked very concerned. None of them was me. I just yelled “are you ok buddy?” and he got up and ran away to play somewhere else. You will get used to the falling.
