Blogging is Weird

The back to blogging challenge last week sure got my brain churning. Especially the why do you blog post. I started thinking about what I do with this space, who reads it and why and what I want to do here. I don’t really have an agenda or an elevator pitch.

I don’t really have an everything is happy all the time agenda, but I don’t tend to write topical or political post. And then I posted a rant about reactions to the formula recall the other day and it got 10x the traffic of a normal blog post. Part of my liked getting the hits, refreshing the site to see the number go up, seeing stumble upon as a referrer (I’ve never been stumbled before!) and at the same time, I felt kind of stupid because I was getting all of these hits for a post so unlike the rest of my blog. Also, I felt like I was capitalizing on a very unfortunate situation. Maybe I will go back to keeping my rants to myself.

Also, do people like link posts? I do. I was thinking about doing one on Saturdays that highlights 5 things I found that I liked on the internet, blogs, articles, products, kind of a mixed bag.

  1. I read a few people who do link posts, usually to other blogs. I’ve added a few people to my blog roll because of them.

I love links. And like Brownies said, I’ve added people to my list because of them.

BTW, do not keep your rants to yourself. Heck that’s what a blog is for, right? Or create a blog rant page so people know what they are getting into before opening the post :)
