17 months!

Yesterday, Spencer turned 17 months and, as per usual, I forgot to blog about it. I don’t do letters or milestone charts (bad mommy blogger, I know) and the last two months I listed his new words, but this month there are too many to list. My favorite new word is Laurie (or Lo-wie, as he says it), my sisters name, which he adorably said throughout her entire visit. He also learned doctor, germ and mouth by watching 10 minutes of Yo Gabba Gabba on you tube yesterday. The boy freaks me out.

He also just started learning his letters. Spencer got a foam letter/number set for his birthday that we never really got out until a few weeks ago. He LOVES them. He can reliably name/go get R, X, K, L, T, O, M and he can repeat the names of almost all the letters when I say them. I thought it was just an associative things with the foam letter itself, similar to how he knows his bear is Bear and his pooh bear is Pooh, but I drew a K on his little magna doodle and he said K. Then he identified the letters on the little moose interlude on Nick Jr between the shows. He loved that. I might look for a letter learning DVD.

He eats almost everything and his favorite foods are blueberries, grapes, tomatoes, pizza and recently apples.  Still not sleeping through the night with any regularity and bedtime is getting worse and worse. Going down for naps seems to go ok, but bedtime, ugh, is either really, really easy or absolutely horrid. I start dreading it every night after dinner, so I think in the new year, something is going to change.

Physically, he is doing well. He can climb up to the slide on his own, run, walk backwards, throw with absolutely no accuracy and he is just starting to try and jump, which is the cutest thing ever. He flaps his arms , bends his knees and lurches about, but gets no air. It is especially cute when he is wearing his cape.

In short, I love my smart, happy, not sleeping kiddo. Mwah!

Happy 17 months Spencer! I am very impressed with the letters – Little Evan’s new “laptop” is educational and he’s just started repeating the letters when it tells him to, but so far no finding them on his own. But he can jump! Together they’ll be unstoppable!!
