Things I Realize When My Husband is Out of Town

1. He is the one who constantly straightens the couch cushions. They are mostly zippers up and in the wrong places. I keep expecting them to magically go back where they go and fluff themselves.

2. He also straightens the bed. I don’t know where the top sheet is, maybe swallowed by the comforter that is half on the floor. Also, his side of the bed is completely covered in board books.

3. There has been almost no impact on the amount of diapers I change and I couldn’t care less. He goes out and works almost everyday of the week and takes calls on the days he doesn’t. I can deal with the literal crap.

4. He is the reason I cook meat for dinner. I haven’t made anything besides chicken since he left. And barely that.

5. I stay up way to late when he isn’t here. I know I won’t be able to fall asleep, so I just stay up, which starts a vicious cycle of exhaustion. Awesome.

6. I miss him a lot.

7. Spencer thinks bath time is better when dad does it.

Obviously

I stay up late when my husband’s out of town, too. Stupid. We should go to sleep. You know, since 24hr parenting is HARD.

    YAY for shampoo mohawks!

I know so many people who stay up late when their husbands are gone. It is a comfort thing. When mine works really late I sleep with the lights on. I’m afraid of the dark!!

My hubby totally thinks it is not dinner if it does not include meat. I enjoy much making much simpler meals when he is traveling!

Mine agrees with yours. Although spaghetti and lasagne are acceptable meatless, but not preferred…

Hubs very rarely goes out of town for work anymore. He used to be gone more than he was home and when he was gone, I ate crap – if I ate at all – and always stayed up way too late.

Way to kick ourselves when we’re already down!
