BHBC: What Alice Forgot

I know my BlogHer Bookclub posts have been a little on the fence or skewing negative lately, which is to be expected when you read a lot, but this time I loved the book. LOVED IT. What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty is a great summer read. I love the premise, the writing and the plot. Good stuff all around. I love it when I finish a book and it goes straight in to the loan it to my sister pile.

I always worry about spoilers, but if it is printed on the back jacket of the book, I figure it is fair game. What Alice Forgot is about 39 year old mother of three who hits her head and wakes up thinking it is ten years earlier – she is 29 and pregnant with her first child. The juxtiposition of her two selves is fantastic.

I think the author made a wise choice when choosing to have the missing decade be Alice’s 30s. As someone approaching the far side of 30s, it is amazing to think how different my life was at 29. On the eve of my thirtieth birthday, I was engaged, but not married; hadn’t had Spencer; and both of my parents were still alive. Talk about a dramatic decade.

I’m giving What Alice Forgot ¬†two thumbs up. Go get it an enjoy it by the pool and for anyone going to BlogHer in August it would make a great read for a plane or train.

This is a paid review for BlogHer Book Club but the opinions expressed are my own.

I saw this somewhere and thought it sounded very interesting.

I’ll have to add it to the ‘to read’ list!
