Refresh your feet!

Spring is here and summer is coming and that means stinky feet. Or dirty feet. I hate, hate the way sandals leave feet grimy and gross. I used to use peppermint lotion and put on fresh socks for bedtime but it always seems a little counterproductive and I was complaining to my husband about my feet being tried from walking around all day and he suggested that I just use peppermint soap and regular lotion. Genius!

Make your feet happy with peppermint soap

I used peppermint Dr Bronner’s and some shea butter cream I had laying around and it was so great! Just suds up your feet* in a sink or tub using the peppermint soap and give your feet a mini massage, then dry them off briskly and really get circulation going and the rub in the lotion or cream (unscented works best or the faint scent of shea) then slip on some socks and in the morning, your feet will feel super fresh and happy. And soft!

I get my peppermint Dr Bronner’s at Target, but amazon has it too, with free shipping for prime. Target has limited scents, so I use amazon to get the citrus we use for hand soap. I love Dr Bronner’s. Plus the crazy label provides great reading material.

Just say no to gross summer feet!


*A bit of advice: only use the peppermint soap on your feet or hands or limbs. It can be, um, a little burny in personal places.

    FYI, you’re supposed to dilute Dr Bronner’s soap before using it, especially the peppermint. Yes, it can be REALLY “BRISK” if you use it straight, especially on… ahem… certain areas. But it’s much more pleasant if it’s diluted. And that’s part of what the savings is, it’s a liquid soap you further dilute.

    You might like mixing the Dr Bronners with salt or sugar to make a scrub/exfoliant.

    People who are not averse to shopping at Whole Foods can find the whole line of liquid and bar soaps there (unless it’s a super small store or something).

    I’ve always used it full strength for people, diluted for cleaning and I just double checked their website and that is what the faq says. You just don’t use a lot. I’m not even sure I’ve been to a Whole Foods. We don’t have one. I know Trader Joe’s has a few types and most health food stores have a bunch. I am the lazy sort who goes with free shipping over driving all over town.

    Oh really? wow! We grew up using Dr Bronner’s and always diluted it, as do most people I know who grew up using it. Are we doing it wrong? Did they change the formula? WEIRD. Super weird.

    The rose and almond both smell really good, too.

    I have a HUGE bottle of the peppermint soap I’ve had since college, since it takes so little to work up a lather. I actually like it all over (except for very personal areas). I’ve even used it as shampoo in a pinch. But it never occurred to me to use it on stinky feet. Which is dumb, since I have extremely stinky gross feet.

    I also have stinky gross feet. I used the body shop peppermint foot spray for a while but it more masked the stink than helped it.

    I have a foot thing…feet are gross so i ignore mine for the most part. I did once go to one of those soap/lotion parties once that was for feet though, and enjoyed it more than i though i would. Also, i always bring Dr. bronner’s peppermint bar soap when we go keeps you feeling fresh longer
