San Francisco is Cold

Spencer and I drove up to visit my sister in San Francisco last week during his Fall break. He hadn’t been to the city since 2010 when he looked like this:

This time we had a little more time to spend and even had one sunny day/afternoon before the wind came up. Every time I visit San Francisco, I am shocked by how cold it is. I don’t remember it being so bad when I went all the time in college. I must have been used to weather back then from living in Northern California. Any amount of time in the coastal Southern part of the state turns a person in to a weather wimp.

We had so much fun! Took Spencer to the San Francisco Zoo (highly recommend the grizzly feeding at 11:30 am) and the Exploritorium. Spencer went on his first underground train (this was during the BART strike so MUNI it was) and he blew bubbles off a roof deck. He loved his big city adventure, but I think he might have loved the orange kitty that lived in a bookstore in the Mission most of all.

Oh how fun! I haven’t been to San Francisco since I toured with my orchestra in 2001!

  2. My family and I went to San Diego this past April and it was freezing. I always had this thought that all of CA was warm all the time, but man was I ever wrong. It was colder there than at home in Boston that week.
