Saying Goodbye to Our House

It’s hard to say goodbye to our house. It’s the first house we’ve ever own, the only house Spencer has ever known and one that Truman never will know. My family moved from Chicago to California when I was just 6 months old, so I know from experience Truman will never have much of a connection to here. It will just be the place he was born. I hope do Spencer keeps some memories from this house.

One of the things that I am the most sad about leaving is this tree. Spencer got it as a present for his first birthday, it was maybe two feet high in a pot and now it is much, much taller. We wanted to get some photos around the house with Spencer and some of his favorite things.

I let him look through the photos and he decide this one was his favorite:

He’s dragon fighting. There is A LOT of dragon fighting around here lately. And just to be clear, dragon fighting is a dragon on dragon magical powers battle. Not a knight vs dragon sort of thing. It actually is sort of fun, except when he tries to dragon fight the baby. The throwing/stomping/expression of magical powers can get a little dangerous.

Speaking of the baby, how cute are these!

I was trying to take a cute porch shot, but I am torn about letting Spencer hold Truman on stone stairs and the bouncy chair looking sort of dumb. My vision for our moving announcement might need some adjustment.

For the most part, Spencer is adjusting to the idea of the move pretty well. I don’t think he quite gets that he won’t see his school bff anymore, but they wouldn’t have gone to the same kindergarden regardless of the move.

Truman remains unimpressed by the moving process.

These are great pictures. Even though we’ve moved around a bit, I still felt kind of sad leaving each kid’s “first home”. For what it’s worth, I intend to die in the current one so they gots plenty of time to build memories.
