I had some trouble finding cute pictures for this. The ones I was thinking of were not in the box I thought they were and growing up before the digital age can make for slim pickings. Some were too dark, some were weird and one was mildly offensive. So, I bring you the year we were super heroes. Twice.
Our town had a costume 4th of July parade that, as girl scouts, my sister and I participated in every year. Depending on the theme, my mom would make us re-purpose the costumes for Halloween. Luckily, one year the theme was Super Heroes. I’m not sure why I was Mighty Mouse, but I do remember that my sister (and I) loved Wonder Woman. We both had the bathing suits. I love that she posed with her bracelets at the ready. Confession time: I know the Lasso of Truth, but did the bracelets have a name? I just remember her using them to boing away (technical term) bullets.
Be sure and check out Bebehblog’s post and link up your own Halloween post! It can be words or a picture. We don’t discriminate. And if you’re on twitter, tag your posts #VintageHalloween to make them easier to find. Yay!
This is good. And easy. There isn’t much to say. If you like pork and pork tenderloin, you’ll like it. Unless you absolutely detest mustard, then don’t, make it. If you just sort of dislike mustard it is still worth a shot, it isn’t particularly mustardy, more of a hint of flavor. It taste a little more of garlic. Oh, so if you hate garlic, don’t make this pork tenderloin either. I am really selling this one. GO PORK!
Garlic Mustard Pork Tenderloin
Serves 3-4
1 pound pork tenderloin, trimmed
1 tablespoon mustard (I used spicy brown, but Dijon would work well too)
1/2 tablespoon locally sourced honey*
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1/2 teaspoon dried herbs (use what you like thyme, sage, Italian seasoning)
salt and pepper to taste
I served this with a simple salad of basil, goat cheese, tomato & smoked salt and some fresh sourdough bread. I would double the recipe for a 2-3 pound tenderloin, then adjust the cooking times accordingly. This would also work with a loin instead of a tenderloin, but will be less tender.
*My honey was locally sourced from a squeezy plastic bear.
While in Sacramento last weekend, we met up with Eileen and family for some kiddie fun. Fairytale Town is basically just a big playground where you pay (fairly inexpensive) admission and everything is fairy tale themed. Works for me. An added bonus is that the equipment is delightfully and dangerously vintage. It opened in 1958 and has tons of original equipment. Bronwyn the Brave took a tumble on one of the steep slides and got a head bonk that she took like a champ. The slide maybe, just maybe, could have used a better warning sign than solo riders only.
Do you have a wordless wednesday post? I’d love to see. And be sure to enter my Shutterfly giveaway after you link up. Free cards!
