Chore Buddy makes trash day a breeze!

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

Do you have trouble remembering when to take out the trash? I do. It’s always the same day of the week, I don’t understand how it is so hard to remember. I used to see all of the trash cans out on the street when I drove home from work, but now that I don’t necessarily drive in late every afternoon, I don’t see them. Enter the Chore Buddy! The fine folks over at Chore Buddy sent me one to check out and I think it is super cool.

It is amazing to me how much our chore routine fell apart after having Spencer. It used to be so simple, trash on Tuesday, work all week, clean the house on the weekend plus the gardening. Then along came a child and a crazy, mixed-up non-traditional work scheduled and it wasn’t very hard for chores to turn in to chaos. The fact that I sort of suck at them doesn’t help.

Simple visual cues are a great way to bring order to chore chaos. I started using a calendar system to help keep track of the big stuff and there is some basic structure now that Spencer is in school two days a week. Vacuuming happens when he is in the school because he can’t stand the sound. Visual tools like Chore Buddy serve as an additional reminder; the blinking light is a reminder that trash day is here with out an alarm blaring or incessant beeping that could be annoying.

Sometimes we do chores in our jammies

At this point, I will take all the help I can get. I like to think of myself as a homekeeping work in progress. Now that Spencer is helping a bit here and there things are only bound to get better, right? I just need more handy tools like the Chore Buddy to keep me on track!

I participated in this program on behalf of Mommy Mindset Media for Chore Buddy. I received product samples as well as additional compensation for my participation.
