Feeling Fallish

Friday, December 6th, 2013

We waited until December to finally make it somewhere that even looked like Fall, but hey, Walking in a Winter Wonderland notwithstanding, it IS still Fall until the 21st.

Halloween 2013: Mario Time!

Friday, November 1st, 2013

This Halloween, Spencer turned out to be a very lucky kiddo indeed. In 2011, He said he wanted to be Mr Potatohead starting in August and stuck to it. Same for last year and the robot. This year, he swore he wanted to be… a banana. I was dumb enough to fall for it. Banana costume purchase! I was ahead of the game. All locked in and it was only early September. Then the doubts started. He decided to be a robot again. Fine by me. I gave him deadlines for changing his mind. We were all set.

And then the day before the day before Halloween, he decided to be Mario. The next morning was a school day so I told him we could go to two Targets after school and that would be the extent of costume search. Target #1: Luigi. Not good enough. Target #2: Score!

The real reason he likes the trunk or treat at his school.

Post festivities relaxing

I am choosing to believe that both buttons coming off his overalls is a sign he had a super fun time.

San Francisco is Cold

Tuesday, October 29th, 2013

Spencer and I drove up to visit my sister in San Francisco last week during his Fall break. He hadn’t been to the city since 2010 when he looked like this:

This time we had a little more time to spend and even had one sunny day/afternoon before the wind came up. Every time I visit San Francisco, I am shocked by how cold it is. I don’t remember it being so bad when I went all the time in college. I must have been used to weather back then from living in Northern California. Any amount of time in the coastal Southern part of the state turns a person in to a weather wimp.

We had so much fun! Took Spencer to the San Francisco Zoo (highly recommend the grizzly feeding at 11:30 am) and the Exploritorium. Spencer went on his first underground train (this was during the BART strike so MUNI it was) and he blew bubbles off a roof deck. He loved his big city adventure, but I think he might have loved the orange kitty that lived in a bookstore in the Mission most of all.
