Weekend Wackiness

Monday, April 26th, 2010

One of the hubs nearest and dearest friends visited this weekend with his wife and two kids. It was a whirlwind visit, came in around noon, left at 4 am on their way back to Missouri via Albuquerque. Their kids are aged 6 and 4 and were just adorable with the baby and are great kids in general. I did realize a few things during their brief visit, our house is really small for two kids to run around in, little boys can get amazingly dirty amazingly quickly, thank god there is a park one block away and having two kids close in age makes for pretty good playmates.  I had been teetering back and forth between having another baby or being one and done.

Hubs really wants two and I just didn’t want to go through the whole newborn stage again. I barely survived it the first time and I don’t really even comprehend how you deal with a newborn when you already have a child, especially a toddler. I spoke with the wife and she said that the first few years with both of the boys was the hardest thing she had ever done. I totally see that. But, since I am almost done working, it would make sense to have our kids pretty close together. They would be playmates (I hope) and I would be able to return to work sooner, when they were closer to preschool aged. I keep assuming that when/if we have another that the second will also be a boy. I have had to fight calling them “the boys” each time I go to write about my fictitious twosome. So, I am starting to get a little baby envy and I guess it is time to get cracking on baby the second.
