Did you know I cook too?

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Just I thought would give a little reminder that things are still cooking over at Soup or Salad Blog. It’s been a little slow due to the illness making its way through our house, but I’ve tried to get at least one guest post up per week. And for those new to the cooking party, I have another blog (I know!) and it is chock full of fun soups and salads, all delicious and easy to make.

Here are some of the most popular posts:

Spicy Shrimp & Noodle Soup (guest post from Life Version 2.o)

Lemon Herb Pasta Salad (guest post from Bebehblog)

Blue Cheese Vinaigrette (original)

Tomato Artichoke Pasta Salad (guest post from Little Things)

Chicken Chef Salad (original)

Cheddar Ale Cauliflower Soup (original)

Vegetarian Split Pea Soup (original) This one is fantastic and the easiest thing ever.

If you would like to keep up with the latest recipes you can follow Soup or Salad Blog on twitter, facebook or by RSS. And I am always looking for guest posts. It can be a reprint from your blog or an unpublished recipe that is emailed to me (souporsaladblog {at} gmail {dot} com). I only require that it is delicious and prefer that there is a picture. If you have a great post you’d like me to post, you can just leave a link in the comments, too. And the recipes should be a soup, salad or obvious accompaniment (like a bread).

Happy Cooking!

Welcome to the World: Soup or Salad Blog

Monday, November 15th, 2010

I have been wanted to do a food blog since I found out that blogs existed, although I am very glad they have never been shortened to fblogs. I just never started one and then I worked a job 60 hours a week and my husband schedule was such that we only overlapped for 2 dinners a week, maybe. And most of our shared meals were breakfast, which I prefer out. So, I didn’t feel like I was cooking enough to provide content for a dedicated food blog. Then, this summer, during an IM conversation with my good friend Jody, the idea for a blog focusing primarily on soup and salad was formed.

I was busy with Spencer and this blog and Jody was readying her family for a move to another continent, so we took the planning slow, bought the name, had the lovely Sarah design our pretty header and do some techie work and then slowly we started getting some recipes up. And what better week than the week before Thanksgiving for our official launch, with a bunch of recipes for using up your leftover turkey.

So, I give you Soup or Salad Blog! And we are kicking off Turkey Week with a fantastic and super easy Turkey Chili Verde.

I do hope you will join me over there. Also, we are planning to feature tons of guest bloggers, so if you are interested you can contact me.  It doesn’t need to be original content for the site. We’d be happy to showcase a soup or salad you have blogged about on your own blog.

***Giveaway is now closed and the winner was Amanda! (comment 8)***

In order to celebrate, I am going to do a few giveaways this week, at least two, three if I can get it together in time.  So, today, I am giving away a fantastic Blue FuzziBuns Perfect Fit Diaper in Medium. If you don’t cloth diaper, it would be a great gift for a friend that does.

Four (!) ways to enter, leave a separate comment on this post for each:

  1. Go to Soup or Salad Blog, look around a bit and tell me what you think, about the content or site design or how we could make it better.
  2. Tell me your favorite soup or salad
  3. Follow Soup or Salad Blog on Twitter
  4. Tweet the following (once): WooHoo! Celebrating the launch of @SoupOrSaladBlog with a #clothdiapers giveaway:

A winner will be selected 11/21. Contest is open to US addresses only. FuzziBunz did not sponsor this giveaway or give me the diaper for this purpose. I won this diaper at a Twitter party and since I seem to win a lot of diapers, I thought I would share the wealth. The diaper is brand new and in the original packaging.
