We had a super fun family outing yesterday to Knott’s Berry Farm! Everyone had a blast, especially if the crappy traffic on the drive their and back is ignored. Spencer went on his first rides ever and by they end of the day he was rocking the kiddie roller coaster solo. I knew he was my child when after his very first ride, the Hat Dance (like the tea cups), there was the smallest of pauses and then he yelled AGAIN!

My sister was visiting for the holidays, so we took to opportunity to take a little trip to the Ty Warner Sea Center on the pier in Santa Barbara. I called it the beach museum on the way there because Spencer thinks all museums are the dinosaur museum and I didn’t want him to be disappointed. The weather was beautiful and we had a lovely, if slightly crowded, afternoon.

This is a failed attempt to take a picture of Spencer with a gingerbread body and a person head. However, t can be difficult to get a 2.5 year old to cooperate when a cookie is involved. And some are my fault for not focusing correctly, but these make me laugh.

After much hemming and hawing, we finally decided to get a tree this year. I wanted a narrow tree becauase we’re having a party the day after Christmas and don’t want to fill up half of our small living room with a tree, but skinny trees are so hard to find in tree lots. Target had the perfect tree – a ridiculous apple green tinsel tree. If I’m going fake, I’m going all the way. And, I finally opened my new lens (50 mm 1.8) which isn’t fancy, but is certainly a step up from the kit lens I’m still using 8 months after getting my camera.
Tonight we decorated. I’m waiting for a full tree reveal until we get a topper and a skirt. The tree is so, so shiny, we decided to skip the lights. Seriously, you almost can’t tell. I love my disco tree.
